 Battlefield: Bad Company 2
OK guys, who's in? It's official release is on March 2nd, but if you sign up thru Steam now, you get to play the beta starting this weekend! Also, you get six unlocks to start with. I'm buying it tonight. Here are some vids. I'm not embedding them, so click on them to go to Youtube to enjoy them in all their hi-def goodness. Note: there are various game modes, so if you dont' like that mode, be aware there are others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ED2EiCAMTshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eF2PHq89b1shttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlVjZY-V_Hc

I'll buy this as well. It has to be the next big game to build on. I just hope EA doesn't do what EA does best this time. Who else is onboard here? Geek, Slappy???

 Re: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
I'll get it when I have some $$. Hopefully I'll be able to buy it before the deal for the early unlocks ends.
Just an FYI that DevilDog already bought a 32-slot Bad Company 2 server for the cartel - so we'll be set as far as a server goes.

If anyone's having issues with getting the beta to run (and what are the odds on a Dice beta not working?), try this thread over at the Steam forums. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=1126153

My personal favorite :p Quote: "I hit refresh, and it said "collecting data" or whatever, and then it crashes to desktop."

The CTD issue must have something to do with the browser.
When I click [Play Now] it works OK. Obviously that doesn't help much for a bunch of guys who want to squad up together on the same server.
The game will definitely take a little getting used to. It feels like a hybrid of BF2 & COD4. I captured some footage.
The Machine Gun emplacements are freaking sweet! The Anti-Tank emplacements... might as well be sacrificial altars for snipers.

 Re: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Took me several tries, and ctd's before I could get into a game. Looks to me like its built on 2142. I kept getting constant 'your connection is bad' by trying play. It crashed on selecting servers. Then I noticed on the right side opposite the friends arrow there is a servers arrow. I brought that over and there were 3 servers listed. I managed to get into one of those for a couple of minutes.
Also kinda reminds me of vista/win7 in looks, which I'm not a fan of, but we'll see.
A few people have posted in those threads that they are going to wait a day or two and try again. I guess EA is going to be patching this on the fly. ;p

 Re: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
This is a completely new game engine: the Frostbite engine. It supports DirectX 10 & 11.
Keep in mind that it is a closed BETA. These types of issues are pretty common for a closed BETA. Better now that in version 1.0 like with Battlefield 2.
I've noticed that BC2 has an automatic updater built right into it. Hopefully that means we'll receive the updates automatically as they are released, for those who aren't running it through Steam.

 Re: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Lets just hope its something we can build our two clans on for a while. Its been a long time since a game came out that kept everyone's interest most days of the week.

 Re: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Amen. DocJon and Paladin have been playing tons of AIX with us over the last week. |GRB| used to be big into Battlefield - I'm hoping this gets all 3 cartel teams gaming together on a regular basis. It will a big difference having everyone on the same [CgC] server every night. That's how you pick up new recuits.
Some of the AWOL -=NC=- guys have started to pop out of the woodwork for Bad Company 2. Putting the band(s) back together will only help our cause.

 Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Well, after a couple days of working on it, I finally got the game to load, and saw ppl shooting and stuff. Yay!
The FPS seems very low, and is jerky. . .but the worst problem is that I have NO up-and-down movement. I can't look up or down.
(sigh)
I'll keep looking over the next few days and see if something develops.

 Re: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
I noticed that I had no side to side mouse look. I had to set my look left and right keys then move the mouse that way. Maybe give that a shot for up/down. There seems to be no natural mouse look built in, weird....

There seems to be no natural mouse look built in, weird.... That was it. It simply wasn't defined. I should have thought of that, but I've never had to do that for any other game in my memory. Fun with Betas. . .
